I'm amending my 2019 federal return. I owe $124 and Turbo is asking me to "correct your payment date". I'm supposed to choose a date in 2020, but it won't accept any.

"Correct the payment date you want the funds with drawn from your bank account so that the IRS can process your direct debit withdrawal... Payment date must...on or after January 27, 2020 and on or before 07/15/2020 to be considered timely paid..." When I select a qualifying date, Turbotax won't accept and won't let me submit my return.

You cannot use direct debit from your bank account to pay the tax due on an amended return. And you can no longer e-file a 2019 amended return. Print the amended return, sign the Form 1040-X, and file it by mail. Enclose a check with the return for the amount that you owe.

Mail it by certified mail with a return receipt so that you get tracking and proof that it was delivered.

The IRS is severely backlogged. Expect it to take 6 months or longer for your 2019 amended return to be processed.
