You do not mention when you mailed in the return.  Was it only weeks ago, or months ago?  Did you use a mailing service like certified mail to track it and confirm that the IRS received it?   If you mailed it recently, expect it to take at least four weeks for a human to open the envelope and enter it into the system.  After that you can track it on the IRS refund site if you are getting a refund.

You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 35a of your 2022 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:

https://www.irs.gov/refunds

If it has been a lot longer than a month ago since you mailed the return and nothing is showing up on the IRS site, then your return may have been lost in the mail and you will need to mail it in again.

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.

Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses.  Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.
