I have to submit my amended 2020 return to the financial aid department of my school and they asked why my agi was changed

I have to provide the reason my agi was changed when my 2020 - 1040 was amended because I had filed early, before the decision was made that no taxes would be paid on the unemployment wages I had received that year.

You have the answer ... the change in the taxable unemployment due to a late tax law change. Not sure how much more you can say to the fools at the college if they don't understand that.
