First you need to figure out if you filed the correct type of return and whether you can even use TurboTax. TurboTax can only prepare returns for US residents and "resident aliens for tax purposes." It cannot prepare returns for non-resident aliens, since it cannot prepare Form 1040NR/NR-EZ. TurboTax does have an affiliate partner (Sprintax--one "t") that can prepare non-resident returns.
I see you are from India. When did you first come to the USA under the J1 visa? Were the 6 months all in 2019? Was that short period of time the entire extent of your stay in the US?
You wrote: "I got a mail that it's rejected in order to fix it I need to amend it, I did that am not able to refile. "
More info is needed. Did you mean email as opposed to a postal letter? What was the reason for the rejection? It should have provided a rejection error code. I'm confused by your use of the term "amend." The amend process is something entirely different. You don't have to amend a return that has only been rejected. Normally one would fix the rejection and then resubmit the return. However, it may be a moot point if it turns out that you can't use TurboTax. So it first needs to be determined if you are preparing the wrong kind of tax return. You might turn out to be lucky it was rejected.
So do NOT attempt to refile the return until it's clear whether you qualify to use TurboTax or not. If you are classified as a non-resident alien, you would need to use a company like Sprintax to prepare a non-resident return.
Please provide the info I asked for above, especially the dates you were in the USA. In the meantime, I'll also go ahead and ask someone familiar with international filing to assist you in this thread on what all you will need to do.
@pk Are you please able to assist in this thread when you are next in the forum? Thanks!
@hrishi1999 , having gone through your post and response from @mesquitebean , still need the questions raised answered-- to wit: (1) when did you enter the country on J visa; (2) when did you exactly leave and did you terminate your visa at that point; (3) your citizenship ( India? ); (4)what form did you file your return on ( form 1040 or 1040-NR) and is it with TurboTax; (5) was this your only visit to the USA during the previous three years; (6) are you married and if so is your spouse a US citizen/Resident/Resident for tax purposes; (7) can you share with us what the rejection letter said ; (8) how did you redo the return ( did you use the amend facility or just the correction capability; etc. etc.
Please answer and I will come back and help you
