I got a notice from the IRS about needing information and there was a number “1034” what do i do?

READ the notice carefully ... what is the number in the upper right corner after CP  or  LTR?

TurboTax has a special phone number for help with IRS/state tax letters, which will be easier than going through regular Customer Support.   At the page below, click on the blue button that says "Get Help from TurboTax Support".  Then it will ask you what tax year is your letter.  Then it will ask you what the letter concerns. Then it will show you the phone number during posted business hours.

There is no such thing as a LTR 1034  so what are the numbers after LTR ?

@Critter-3  And after re-reading it, the number is 1040! We just haven’t gotten our return and it’s really frustrating that I’m just now learning that this was an issue.

Ok ... so you got a  computer generated "60 day notice"  which simply means the IRS has your return in processing and they need more time to process it.   Unless it specifically says they want you to send them something all you need/can do is wait.

since it's asking for additional information send it to the address in the notice or use the fax number, if provided. we can not see the notice. if it's unclear as to what is being requested please post the text omitting all personal information.
