Do you have a TurboTax Online account?

We'll help you get started or pick up where you left off.

I got a letter from IRS saying my 2023 return was never filed. I have a copy of the return and a letter from Intuit stating it was done 04/15/2024. I want my money back.

How do I get my money back from Turbo Tax since they never sent in my return?

Did you e-file?  Did you click a big orange button that said “Transmit my returns now?”

When you e-file your federal return you will receive two emails from TurboTax.  The first one will say that your return was submitted.  The second email will tell you if your federal return was accepted or rejected.  If you e-filed a state return, there will be a third email to tell you if the state accepted or rejected your state return.

First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:

If the IRS accepted it, what does it say here?

https://www.irs.gov/refunds

Or does your account say “Ready to Mail?”

Note:  If it says “Ready to Mail” or “Printed” that means YOU have to mail it yourself.  TurboTax does not mail your tax return for you.   Or does it say "rejected?"   Anything other than "accepted" means you did not e-file it successfully.

If your return was not e-filed successfully, then you need to print it now, sign and date it in ink, and mail it in.  E-filing is closed.

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.

Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses.  Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.
