I filed my taxes a week ago and it still say processing why is it taken so long

Processing is the 2nd step after being accepted. The IRS says 9 out of 10 tax returns are processed within 21 days so you still have some time to wait. Some returns take longer than 21 days. Keep checking the IRS web site for updates.
