I filed an amendment to add a small income ($1000) to the year. However, it takes away all my state return and I owe $50. The federate tax return is same. Why?

After I filed the amendment, on the summary page, the federate tax return amount is only $100 less, but the state tax return of $2000 is changed to a $50 bill.

We can't see your return. Even though it was only $1000 of income, it may have been enough to put you in a new tax bracket or disqualify you from certain tax credits. It's hard to tell without more information.
