I didn’t get my 2nd stimulus

I never got my 2nd stimulus, I also didn’t see anywhere to claim such on my tax forms. How do I go about the revisions to receive that payment?

If you did not receive your first and/or second stimulus payment or if the amount received is not correct, you can claim it on your 2020 tax return as the Recovery Rebate Credit.

In TurboTax Online, to claim the Recovery Rebate credit please do the following:

  1. Sign into your account and continue from where you left off
  2. Click on Federal in the left-hand column, then on Federal Review on the top of the screen
  3. On the next page titled Let's make sure you got the right stimulus amount, click on Continue
  4. Follow the interview
  5. TurboTax will determine whether you are entitled to any additional stimulus
  6. Any stimulus amount remaining due to you will show as a credit on line 30 of your form 1040.

I already filed, do I have to wait to get my results back to do this?

Yes, if you already filed, you have to wait a little longer now, but rest assured, you will be able to claim the credit.   If you submitted your returns already, you will see that they are ''pending'' and you can't make changes.  It is as if you put them in the mailbox and they are on their way....  If you were supposed to claim the recovery rebate because you did not receive the first or second stimulus payment, but you did not, and you already submitted your return.......you will need to wait until the IRS either accepts or rejects your return, which will be sometime after Feb 12th.   If rejected, go back in to your return and claim it.   If accepted, wait until that return is processed and then file and amended return to claim it.   One of the reasons you may need to file an amendment:

  • You forgot to report income or claim dependents, deductions, or credits (including the recovery rebate).
