I believe I was advised to send my amended Arizona state return by mail with the additional forgotten w2s but do I send the federal return also? It is 19 pages!

I also was advised that it take up to 16 weeks for my amended 2024 return for federal to be processed and federal would contact Arizona state? I was advised to send my federal return amended with my payment voucher? I do not have the full payment. It will not allow me to request an arrangement yet, so can I send in the form for federal for an arrangement request? Or should I wait and just send my payment with state and the documents for the amendment? Please let me know! Thank you!

You can and should e-file the federal. You will just make payments online or request a payment plan. If you mail a federal amended return it could take months for it to process and has more chance of something being messed up.

For the Arizona, if you need to mail it, just mail the forms. Pay online. You never want to send a payment through the mail.

The federal does share filed returns with the states so they can compare.

• efile the federal
• sign, date, assemble the amended return, mail with tracking
• make payments online when ready
