we live part time in Iowa and part time in Florida. It has caused duress because Iowa believes they are owed $2500. We had no Iowa income and no deductions on our 1099s for Iowa state tax. I inadvertently had Iowa on 1040

No income at all while in Iowa? Did you move during the year, or are you a snowbird? In which state are you driver's license, car registration and voter registration?
