Okay, here goes, I filed my 2021 taxes and got a refund. It was brought to my attention that I made a mistake concerning an IRA contribution. It was actually a rollover from my 401K. I filled out the 1040-X and submitted it. I should have received an additional $1400.00 refund. The IRS received the 1040-X on 4/6/2022 but didn't get back to me until 2/13/2023. Instead of a refund, I got a bill for $1200.00. I contacted the IRS, and the agent told me to just refile the 1040-X. Do I just mail a copy of the one that I mailed them before? What's going to be different this time?!?!
Thanks for the help,
Joe

I would be a little bit skeptical of the advice the agent gave you. You should have received a notice explaining why the amended return had been adjusted and then it would be easier to get the matter resolved. If it hasn't been resolved properly filing an additional amended return may create problems. I would suggest you make an appointment at your local IRS office and work it out face to face with an agent.
