How to file a 1040x for 2020?

We left out income for 2020 and need to file a 1040x. We already paid the amount owed. Now we need to fill out a 1040x. Can we get info on how to file a 1040x?

Do not expect quick results from amending. It can take four months or more for the IRS to process an amended return.

If you know how much to pay (you already paid) then you probably already have  a revised tax return.

TurboTax, to amend,  requires the original return.

It's pretty straight-forward.

You must have a paper copy of the original return, or a transcript.

You can get the correct form to use for tax year 2020 in fillable PDF on the IRS website under FORMS.
