How soon can I contact the IRS about my paper return

Hello,

We sent our tax return in February and it was delivered the week after. However, according to our tax transcripts and WMR, the IRS has not processed it yet. There is no record of them having the return.

Do I call the IRS six weeks after the day we mailed the return or 6 weeks after they received it? And if they do not have it at that point, can I send the return again (before April 15th) with a letter explaining what happened along with proof of mailing?

It takes 2-3 months for the IRS to process paper returns.
