The bank will send the money back to the IRS and then the IRS will mail you a check. Should take less than two weeks to receive the check.
If you e-filed:
Banking information for direct deposit is wrong or closed
If you entered incorrect banking information for your refund, you can change it if your return is rejected. If it is accepted, however, it is too late to change it. The bank will reject the refund and send it back to the IRS. Then the IRS will issue a paper check and mail it to the address you put on your tax return. Expect a delay of at least a couple of weeks to receive your refund.
Here is what the IRS says about entering incorrect banking information
If your refund is sent back to the IRS—- make certain that the address you entered on your Form 1040 is correct. And…open all mail, even if it looks like junk mail.
Once your refund has been sent, it's too late to have it go to a different bank account.
It's not clear from your post whether the old account is still open.
If the money was deposited in the old account, you have to withdraw the money from that account, or contact the bank if you have trouble accessing the old account.
If the old account was closed, the bank would have rejected the deposit. If that's what happened the IRS will mail a check to the address on your tax return.
There is no way to have the money sent to your new bank account.
