How long does tax return take to comeback ?

I have heard of refunds coming  back in as little as 4 days  however the average is 3 weeks however this is not an average tax year so expect the return to take 2 to 3 months maybe more.  Check the IRS tool once a week for a progress update :   www.IRS.gov/refunds

The IRS has been (and remains) seriously backlogged due to all the new tax laws and extra stimulus filings, as well as unprocessed 2019 returns still left over from the COVID shutdown.  Lots of other folks are still waiting (some since mid-February), so please continue to be patient.  Also see:
