I filed both the federal and California returns today via TT. It took less then 30 minutes to receive the email confirming my federal return is accepted. But since then, it has been more than an hour and half and I am still waiting for the email to confirm if CA return is accepted. I checked my old emails and noticed in the past 3 years I got email for accepting my CA return within 20 minutes after I received email for Federal return acceptance. Anyone can share your recent experience this year? How long did it take for you to get the CA acceptance email? thanks.

Unlike CA, in NJ it can take 24-36 hours to get an ACCEPTED message.
While federal acceptance often happens within hours, it is not unusual for the California state return to remain in a "pending" status for 24 to 72 hours, or even up to several days. If you have not received a confirmation in the next 24-48 hours, please feel to contact us again.
Thanks. Can I know what is the normal reason for why it takes 24-72 hours for CA to accept my return. Does that mean it implies there is issue? Because in the past 3 years, I always got CA acceptance email between 10-20 minutes after I got Federal acceptance email. I am little worried right now, since it has been 3 hours since I received CA acceptance email
It usually does not mean there is an issue, often it just depends on how they are processing the returns. In general, if there is a data mismatch or entries that would cause a rejection, they are almost immediate. You should always check to be sure it was accepted, but just give it a day or so. @popomama1
Thank you for the quick response. In case, there is a data mismatch, will Turbo Tax allows me to immediately re-file CA return for free?
Yes, you will receive an email from TurboTax- most of the time it will direct you to the exact entry. If it does not, please post here and someone will try to help! @popomama1
