How long can the irs hold your refund?

My return was accepted January 31st. Still says it is processing. Called the IRS and they said that they are reviewing it further and may need more information. I have no more information.

How long can the irs hold your refund?

They can hold it as long as they wish. They might need more info from, say, your employer.
