Hello - I am Personal Representative for my late brother, who passed away Aug 2 2024. Probate is in process. The Estate has an EIN. The IRS already has a Form 56 on file for me. I need to file a request for extension for his 2024 taxes. He had minimal income - probably less than $50K during the tax year, but he also had missing 1040's for 2022 and 2023, so it's all a bit of a mess.
Do I fill out the Extension request under my name (as PR) or his name, and if under his name, do I use his SSN or the Estate EIN?
The IRS website (unless I missed it) isn't quite clear on this.
Thanks in advance !
