I finally got to speak to someone after first waiting on hold for 47 minutes, only to have the BOT tell me they couldn't help at that time and then hanging up on me. When I called a second time, I sat on hold for just over 2 hours and then got someone who transferred me to the refund department. That person then spent about 15 minutes researching if it was possible to change a direct deposit refund to a check refund, which she then told me could not be done, at which point I reiterated that was not what I was requesting. I reiterated that I wanted a direct deposit refund from 2023 changed to a credit towards my 2024 1040 return. She then placed me back on hold for several minutes to return and tell me it can't be done. It appears once the return is filed, it is set in stone. If such is not the case, please advise.
