Not an extension - correction an amendment.

If you are referring to amending a 2019 or earlier tax return, TurboTax does not support tax returns or amended tax returns for any tax year prior to 2020.

Thank you.  So there is no way to request that they open it back up I assume.

In that case, if I downloaded into a .tax file, could I use an old version of turbo tax locally to edit and ammend?

Yes, you can download the .tax file and the PDF of the prior year tax returns if they are after tax year 2016.  TurboTax only retains online tax returns for the past seven years so any returns prior to 2017 are no longer available.

So if you have the TurboTax software available for the tax year you need to amend, the .tax file for that year can be opened by the software.
