How can I amend 2021 taxes? It lets me go through the process but then says my transmission didn't go through and gives me a reason but no recourse to file the amendment.

It gives me the reason "The Intuit Electronic Filing Center is closed for the 2021 Personal Income Tax filing season. November 15, 2022 was the last day to file returns electronically." But it doesn't give me any recourse as to what to do or anything, just a "Retry" button. I've clicked retry a few times just to see, but that doesn't do anything either - I keep getting the same error. How can I actually get these submitted? Is it just because it's tax season for 2022 taxes? Can I file this at a later time? Is it because I just submitted my 2022 taxes, do I need to wait until I get that refund to do the 2021 amendment? I'm at a loss here and I would really like to get my full refund from last year (I'm missing out on a good chunk of change that I could really use right now honestly, and want to get this amendment filed as quick as possible since I know it takes a long time for it to be processed).

Only certain paid tax pros can still e-file past year amended returns. You cannot e-file an amended return that you prepared yourself using TurboTax.  Your 1040X must be printed, signed and dated in ink, and then you need to mail it in.  Use a mailing service like certified mail so you will know the IRS received it, since you will have a long wait for it to be processed.

Even during “normal” times it takes about four months for the IRS to process an amended return.  During the pandemic and due to the severe backlog at the IRS it is taking much longer—six to nine  months or more for many amended returns.  Do not expect quick results from amending.  When the IRS issues a refund for an amended return it will be by check.  They do not make direct deposits for refunds for amended returns.  You can watch for information here:
