HELP!!! I submitted an ACCEPTED non-filer return with the WRONG payment information

I submitted an accepted non-filer return through Free File Fillable which was later accepted by the IRS.

HOWEVER, I entered the wrong payment information and can do nothing to change that now. Will my Economy Impact Payment go to another person's bank account? I sent an email to IRS but have no idea when I can get a response. I'm really anxious right now...

HELP!!! I submitted an ACCEPTED non-filer return with the WRONG payment information

I can understand why this would make you anxious!  Your bank will almost certainly return the payment when the account name and number do not match with the deposit from the IRS.

After that happens - which can take a few weeks - the IRS will convert your payment to a check.

Before they mail you a check you may get another opportunity to update your information at this site: Get my Payment.

The IRS will also mail you a letter after they attempt to send your payment.  This letter will contain instructions for what to do about payment not received.

While it may take a little longer for this payment to get to you, it will still get to you.
