Accepted is not the same as Approved, which is a later step.

Some states are quick with refunds, while others (such as GA, WV, AL, CO, etc.) can take a long time--even weeks--as they crack down on detecting fraudulent returns.

  However, we can tell you some things to check.

If you efiled the state return, use the tool below to double-check and be sure the state return was successfully efiled and accepted:

If that confirms it was accepted, or if you mailed the state return, then here's how to check the status of a state refund. 

TIP:  While you are at the state tax website, see if they have a notice or FAQ on how long it usually takes to get a refund in your state and how long to wait before calling them.
