When I submitted my taxes this year I selected direct deposit for the refund but I was sent a paper check instead. Is there a reason I would get a check instead of the refund being directly deposited? All other years the refunds have been put directly into my bank account. Will this happen with my stimulus check too?

Generally speaking, the IRS will change the payment from Direct Deposit to mail a check if there is a problem with the bank account and they are unable to make the payment.
Problems with the bank include a bank account with someone else's name on it, the wrong account or routing number, or some other reason the funds cannot be deposited.
I do not know what the IRS will do with your stimulus payment, but it seems likely that they will mail you a check.
Do you know if there is a limit on the amount that can be direct deposited? I think that may have been the issue here since all the banking info was correct.
That would be a question for your bank.
I received Direct Deposit for my state Tax returns but the IRS is mailing me a check, how can I get them to do Direct Deposit instead and make sure it does not happen again in the future, given the state returns could do direct depost I am assuming there was no error on the account number or routing number
@prospermang2019 TurboTax gets no information from the IRS after you file your tax return. Occasionally, the IRS decides--for reasons of its own--to mail you a check instead of making a direct deposit. Only the IRS can tell you why they issued a check instead of making a direct deposit. You can call the IRS to ask; be happy you will receive your refund.

Listen to each menu before making the selection.
First choose your language. Press 1 for English.
Then do NOT choose the first choice re: "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line.
Instead, press 2 for "personal income tax".
Then press 1 for "form, tax history, or payment".
Then press 3 "for all other questions."
Then press 2 "for all other questions." It should then transfer you to an agent.
