Got a Check in the mail

I set up direct deposit for my tax return. My state tax return was deposited into my bank account but my federal was sent by mail? Why did this happen and will my stimulus be sent by mail as well??

Got a Check in the mail

Only the IRS can tell you why they mailed a check instead of using your direct deposit information.  Maybe you entered it incorrectly?

Got a Check in the mail

The IRS would have mailed your refund to you if they had issues processing your direct deposit.

The IRS lists three reasons for being unable to complete a direct deposit:

  1. Funds can only be deposited using accounts with your name, your spouse's name, or a joint account
  2. Funds are rejected by the financial institution
  3. IRS cannot deposit more than 3 electronic refunds in a single account

Please see the link below for additional information about refunds they issue.

As far as your stimulus payment, please scroll down to Bank Account Information for more details as to the account used by the IRS when issuing these payments.
