Form 8453

I told to send form 8453 after I efiled.  On Form 8453, Form 8949 is the only thing checked.   I don't have a 8949.   I sold some stock and only got 1099-B.   Do I send this with the 8453.  The software was not very informative in this area.

Yes, if your return does not have a Form 8949 you should attach a copy of the Form 1099-B  you received. The Form 8453 is required if you entered totals from the Form 1099-B instead of entering each detail transaction.

Form 8453

I am in the same situation (having to file Form 8453), but I uploaded the detail from my investment account when I was in TurboTax and all that was on 8949, which I have printed.  Do I still have to print Form 8949 and include with Form 8453?  I assumed that the detail from 8949 was included in the e-file.

You need to attach the Form 8949 to the Form 8453. Some entries on the Form 8949 were upload as totals instead of detail transactions. The investment company reported the transactions in detail.

The IRS department that will compare the financial institution’s entries with your Form 8949 entries need a hard copy of Form 8949. They only do a review if there is a variance between the sources.
