Forgot to add a tax deposit to the 1040 return

Do I need to amend my return to reflect the additional tax payment or will the IRS pick up the deposit I made before the due date of the return (either from my SS or my husband's SS#?

If you made an estimated payment or payment with an extension the IRS should catch that and add it in for you.

Thanks.  I made EFTPS deposit and not sure it will be credited to my SS number.
