This is what it reads

If you claimed eic or any other child tax credit,  it will stay like that until after 2-15-19. Paths Act keeps government from issuing refunds until after that date. Saying estimated deposit date is week of 2-27-19.

got tax topic 152 last year, and also got it this year. I was stunned! 2 years in a row. While you might read all types of answers on this, basically your return has been pulled and is under manual review. This could be because of the percentage of itemized deductions you took as compared to your income, mine was due to charitable contributions last year. I had to provide support of those contributions, It then took 2 months to process my return. I NEVER received a letter. I called IRS after my WMR kept saying TT 152 and my bars had disappeared. I’m wondering how many years it would’ve taken the IRS to contact ME, had I not been aggressive enough to contact them. Anyway, I took no charitable contributions this year, and still my bars disappeared and went to TT 152 yesterday. I’m depressed about this, as I had expected a quick refund, now I know I am looking at a minimum of 8 more weeks (based on last year).

@cloudchaser13hotmailcom If you filed with TurboTax, you can follow the instructions in this link to get your 2018 tax return information: How do I access a prior year return?

Or for assistance with this, you can call TurboTax and speak with an agent. TurboTax customer service/support does not have a single phone number but has many different phone numbers based on the type of platform used.  So that we can direct your call to the best person/department to help you:

  1. Click on this link: Contact Us
  2. Select your TurboTax platform.
  3. Ask your question / state your problem.  Do NOT use the word "refund' or you will get a phone number for tax refunds.
  4. Click Submit.
  5. On the next screen, choose the Call option and follow the instructions.  You will be given the approximate wait time.

You'll get a toll-free number to a TurboTax expert who is specially-trained to handle your particular issue.

"Irene2805 Employee Tax Expert"

Then for the status of your refund you would need to contact the IRS:

How do I contact the Internal Revenue Service (IRS)?

Note:

You will need to follow the prompts in order to speak to an IRS agent. There is a high call volume this time of year.

When calling the IRS do NOT choose Option 1.

Choose Option 2 after you choose the language.

Then Press 1

Then Press 3

Then Press 2, it will then transfer you to an agent.

Where do we enter the amount of refund from our 2018 1040 that we are applying to our 2019 1040?  When we entered it in the space where it seemed it should go, it reduced our 2019 refund, instead of increasing it.

If you didn't transfer your 2018 return over, you can manually enter the amount by doing this:

  1. Open (continue) your return, if you don't already have it open.
  2. Search for refund applied to this year and select the Jump to link in the search results.
  3. Scroll down to the 2018 Refund Applied to 2019 section.
  4. Select Start next to the appropriate category (federal, state, or local) and follow the instructions.
