Federal Tax Payment

We mailed our federal tax payment the end of February and the check has not been cashed. Cannot get a hold of a real person at the IRS to check status. What do we do?

IRS cashes checks as soon as it gets them.

If you mailed a check in February and the IRS has not yet cashed it, you can probably safely assume it is lost in the mail. You can contact your bank and stop payment on that check (the bank will charge a fee for that) and then pay the IRS again by using the IRS direct pay site or mail another check. If you mail another check, use a mailing service like certified mail so you will know the IRS received it.
