Federal Tax payment

I have two questions:

1. When e-filing your tax return with TurboTax, I selected the option to schedule direct debit tax payments to the IRS. The payment date was 04/17 and still I do not see payment debited to my account. How do I know if TurboTax has submitted payment details to IRS..

2. What if I pay my taxes due twice to IRS?

Federal Tax payment

You can look on the Filing instructions page to see what day the payment was scheduled.   They usually take an extra day or two to process the payment.   In most cases, the IRS will automatically refund the extra payment as long as both payments were clearly marked for the same tax year and the taxpayer does not owe any additional funds for other years.

If possible, you may wish to see if your bank can cancel one of the payments.
