Federal return pending

Filed January 7th, here it is January 12th status is still shown as pending. I’d like to know what that indicates. The only information I’ve found says that ‘pending’ indicates it’s been neither accepted nor rejected which takes 24-48 hours. It’s said pending for over 96hrs, the IRS refund doesn't have available status.

Sorry.  It will say pending until the IRS opens and starts taking efiles on Jan 27.  Then it's 24-48 hours after that or later for the IRS to Accepted or Rejected it.  So you have to wait.

The IRS will not begin to accept/reject returns until January 27, so right now your return is pending on the server.

If you realize you made a mistake or left out information do not try to change anything.  You have to wait for the email you will get after 1-27 telling you if your return has been accepted or rejected.
