Federal Refund

Hello - 

I filed my parents tax return and mailed it on approximately March 9, 2020. The issue is my father passed away 1/16/2019. I could not e-file the return as I could not get the AGI for my mother. Tried their AGI from 2018 and got an error, tried $0 got an error. So as to not waste any more time I paper filed the return. 

Today is May 26, 2020 and I put the paper return in the mail on or about March 9, 2020. I have used the online "Where's my Refund" also called the 800 number. 

Anyone have any suggestions on how to find the status of the return?

You will not be able to find out the status for a while. Because of the Covid-19 pandemic the IRS is currently not processing tax returns that were filed by mail. When they start to process them again they will have reduced staff and a big backlog, so it will be quite a while before your parents' tax return is processed or you can even get a status update.
