electronic filing accepted or pending?

On March 13, 2022 I received an email saying my federal and state e-filed returns had been accepted. My filing instructions were for a Direct Debit from my bank to be done on 4/18/22. To date (4/25/22), the tax payments have not yet been debited and TurboTax now  says (4/25/22) my e-filing status is Pending. What is happening here? Please advice. Thank you.

the fed and state have a backlog of returns. they got yours but it may be a while before the returns are fully processed. your payment will come out late but for penalty purposes for the payment of the balance due the date accepted will be used unless you specified a date after 4/18/2022

Thank you Mike. But this does not explain why TurboTax changed my e-filed return status from "accepted" to "pending". Have they had some communication from the tax authorities that caused this change? If so, why didn't TurboTax share this with me?
