efile date issue

The software doesn't reflect the revised May 17, 2021 filing date for federal taxes. I'd like to efile but it won't let me put in any dates past April 15, 2021. Any suggestions?

The IRS has not yet updated the e-file system for the later payment date. If TurboTax allowed you to e-file with a payment date after April 15, the IRS would reject the e-file. So your choices right now are to either file with a payment date of April 15 or earlier, or wait until both the IRS and TurboTax have updated their software for the later date. Since you owe tax, you don't have to be in any hurry to file. It seems like waiting is the better choice.

Here's another option. You can file now and say you will pay by check instead of direct debit. That doesn't mean you have to actually mail a check. You can pay online anytime between now and May 17. You can pay online directly from your bank account using Direct Pay on the IRS web site at the following link.
