We were behind on our taxes, but finally got caught up. On 5/7/23 we mailed in our 2022 Federal Tax return (we were getting refund). Then 1 week later we e-filed our 2023 Federal Tax return. We then got the 2023 rejected due to AGI for my husband not being correct. However, the AGI should be the same for us both, and we took the AGI from the 2022 return. I am wondering what to do now? Also, when I try and look up status for my 2022 taxes, it can't find it.

If you mailed your 2022 return recently, then the 2022 AGI is not in the system for the IRS to match up with your SSN. So either use "zero" for your 2022 AGI and try to e-file 2023 again, or print, sign and mail your 2023 return. If it is a joint return, both spouses must sign.
When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s. Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.
Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses. Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.
