e-file and payment

I e-filed my 2019 federal taxes this afternoon, and made a debit payment from my account because I owed money. I later received notice that the federal return was rejected. I'm reviewing and making corrections. I'm at a point where it asks me to make a payment again. I thought I already did this, and I'm concerned if I e-file again that they will take this $ out a second time. If it's been rejected, does that mean they haven't taken the money out of my account yet?

If you selected Direct Debit from your bank account by entering the routing and account numbers, nothing was received by the IRS concerning your payment since the tax return was rejected.
