Does a few $100 wipe out the refund?

I amended 2016 to add W2 and the return went from $5000 to owing $200. The added income was $571 to $29348

When you start the amend process, the refund that is shown in TurboTax is reset to zero. 

You will still get the original refund. The amended return will show the difference you owe (which would be the $200.00 that you would mail in with your amended return), or that you will get back as a refund.
