I printed my Federal and State tax returns for mailing, however, line76b and 76d ex'd out. If I file a Form 8888 with my tax return, would that ensure that my direct deposits will be correctly handled.

Just handwrite the bank info on the printed form.  Which state? Some states will only mail you a paper check if you file a paper return.
