Didn’t get my full refund

I was supposed to receive a refund of 2,021$ this year & was told I had an offsets which made my taxes 543$. This is totally incorrect I have 0 offsets and now TPG & TurboTax owe me 1,478$. This is ridiculous do I hear lawsuit!

Who told you that you have offsets? Did the IRS say you have an offset? TurboTax never knows if you have an offset to your refund for back tax or child support that you owe. There can be other reasons for a reduced refund---like mistakes made with the recovery rebate credit or child tax credit, for example. Those mistakes have been very common this year and are causing lots of reduced refunds.

The amounts you mention make me wonder if you had a mistake with the 3rd stimulus and your TurboTax fees.

LOTS of people have made mistakes this year with the recovery rebate credit by "forgetting" that they received the $1400 per person stimulus checks last year. They answered no to the questions for the recovery recovery rebate credit and put the $1400 per person on line 30 of their returns. But you cannot get it twice, so the IRS removes it when it is there by mistake.

Does the IRS show that you received a $1400 stimulus or EIP check in 2021? Did you receive it? When you were asked on your tax return did you say no? Was there $1400 on line 30 of your tax return?

If the IRS says you got $1400 last year but you did not receive it you can have it traced.

I never received a third stimulus. TurboTax approved the 2,021$ amount and then the IRS said changes were made due to offsets which I do not have. I owe 0$ to anyone & have 0 offsets/dependents for them to even take my return and use that as an excuse. I want the money I am owed now ! Now they’re taking from mouths I feed & I work hard for what I’m owed.

The IRS does not tell TurboTax anything about changes to your refund. If they are saying it is due to offsets, you would need to contact the Bureau of the Fiscal Service (BFS ) for more information. This could be an error if you are absolutely sure you do not owe anyone anything, but only the BFS would be able to provide you with more information.
