I filed 1/20 and my return was accepted on 2/10 and transmitted 2/12. My 21 day window provided by the IRS that 9/10 people get their refund is tomorrow or Thursday. I still don't understand why it has taken so long this year. Last year I filed about the same time frame and had my refund in less than 10 days. This year, my tax situation has changed and has resulted in me getting a much larger refund than in previous years. I know I can check the WMR tool to find the status, but the only update is that a refund date will be provided at a later time. I just want to know when I should contact the IRS and inquire, I called a few days ago and the representative was very kind and told me there wasn't any outstanding issues or reasoning to the delay. Any suggestions other than to continue to check the site would be appreciated.

There were major late 2020 tax law changes, and then some 35 millions returns were filed in just the first week after the IRS opened. So things are moving slower this year.
And note that the "9 out of 10" message now says "most" (within 21 days) on the IRS website.
