Change in Amount Due

I filed my taxes in March.  I e-filed my Federal and mailed in my state (California).

When I did this Turbo Tax showed that I owed the Feds $3,839, and would be getting back $138 from the State.  I just logged into Turbo Tax and there were updates that down loaded.

When I opened my documents, Turbo Tax now shows I only owe $1,822 to the Feds and the State owes me $178.  How did this change, and what do I need to do to correct so I don't have to pay so much to the Feds.

Change in Amount Due

If you reported Unemployment Income in your return, there have been changes for an Unemployment Exclusion of the first $10,200.

If this applies to you, don't Amend Your Return.  The IRS is making adjustments and will send you the additional amount back.

Click this link for more info on the Unemployment Income Exclusion and a sign-up link to be notified of changes.
