Can I go back and file without itemizing?
I know I don't get a Federal refund but just get a State refund and cannot afford the money to upgrade and pay $39.99.
If you choose to file without itemizing deductions you can simply go back and delete some of your deductions to lower the amount. TurboTax would then use your standard deduction.
- Sign into your TurboTax account (online)
- Select the Federal tab in the black navigation panel on the left
- Select Deductions & Credits
- Scroll to select a category > Add/Update
- Delete any or all of the deductions entered (use the trashcan next to an item)
