Can I file an amendment after I already e-filed my returns?

I need to add another 1099 that I just received today and have already e-filed my federal and state returns.

Yes, if your return has already been filed and accepted by the IRS you need to amend it to report the additional income. Note that amended federal tax returns cannot be e-filed. If you were expecting a refund on your original return, the IRS requests that you wait until you receive that refund before mailing your amended return. Please see below for instructions.
