Can I do my taxes after April 18? I lost my w2 and can’t find it

Thought I had them in drawer, always do them last minute, when I went to go look didn’t find them

If you will be getting a refund there is no penalty for filing after the deadline.   You will need to get a copy of your W-2 from your employer.

It's best to file an extension for the following reasons:

1. If you end up owing, an extension protects you from the late-filing penalty.
2. Some states require that you file a federal extension to get a state extension.

To file an extension, please follow the instructions below:

1. Open your return in TurboTax Online.
   (To do this, sign in to TurboTax and select Pick up where you left off).
2. Select File an extension at the bottom of the column on the left side of the screen.
   • If you don't see the File an extension button in Step 2 above, search for extend using your product's search function and select the Jump to link at the top of your search results.
3. Follow the on-screen instructions to e-file your extension.
