Thanks for the help. That was the 2019 solution. Now it seems not working now. Any suggestion on how I could modify the form for the return not yet mailed. Thanks a lot.

Sign onto your TurboTax online account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/
Scroll down and click on Add a State. This will take you back to the 2019 online tax return.
I cannot get this to work. 1) It takes me to the interview for the new state and I don't see anywhere to access the forms or add new forms. 2a) It also seems to automatically identify the action as an amendment, and 2b) as an amendment it doesn't give me the original but calculates a new total as if it was a new return. Then I get a new total refund that is the old refund less the new tax due, but 3) when I print as pdf the changes don't appear, it is just the same previous return. Clearly I am confused. Any help is appreciated.
Hi, did you find a solution to this problem? I am having the same problem
I'm having the same issue for my 2020 taxes. Cannot edit a printed but not yet mailed return.
I have the same issue, and the suggested workaround is not acceptable and the end result does not work for us.
Using “Add a new state” pushes the return into an amended return workflow. That is not what is needed here. The return has not actually been filed with the IRS. It was only printed, and users need to be able to edit the original return and generate a corrected PDF before mailing.
That distinction matters:
Printed is not filed
If Intuit prevents edits to an original return that has not actually been submitted, that is a significant product problem.
What is needed is simple: allow users to reopen and edit the original return until it has actually been filed, and generate a new PDF without triggering an amendment.
@tglauner Using Add a state does not automatically start an amended return.
To access your current or prior year online tax returns sign onto the TurboTax website with the User ID you used to create the account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/
When you sign onto your online account and land on the Tax Home web page, scroll down and click on Add a state.
This will take you back to the 2025 online tax return. Click on any of the links on the left side of the online program screen to access any section of the tax return to make corrections. Then click on File to either e-file or print the return for mailing.
