Anyone experiencing major delays in amended return processing?

I had to amend my 2019 state and federal returns because I didn't account for the adjusted cost basis on some stock I acquired thru my employer's purchase plan. I mailed both in around Feb 15th. My state sent me a check in like 10 days! However, for federal it's still not showing in the system under "Where's my amended return." I found a post from someone else on how to get a live person at the IRS -- which I used -- but at the end I got a message indicating that they couldn't answer my question right now or something and hung up. I suspect all these delays are just due to all the stimulus stuff, but this is still becoming grating on my nerves since I didn't qualify for any stimulus, and this amended return is good sized for me.

Even during normal times it takes the IRS about four months to process an amended return, and now during the pandemic it is taking much longer.   Do not expect quick results.   Your state may have been able to process your return lots faster---after all, your state is not also processing millions of stimulus checks while it is trying to process tax returns during a season when the tax laws changed and the forms had to be changed, refunds had to be recalculated, etc. etc. etc.   You already seem to know how to check the amended return site--- so continue to check it for information.
