Any way to know if my refund has been approved and applied to my 2020 taxes?

Hi,

We need to pay estimated quarterly taxes for 2020 (first time we've had to do this). Is there any way to find out if our return has been approved, and if our refund has been applied (I specified that it should be when I filed). I'd like to be able to verify this for both our federal and state (NE) return.

Turbo Tax normally keeps me updated on the status of our federal return, since it's filed electronically (state is mailed in), but we had stock sales last year and Turbo Tax did not tell me I had to provide detailed sales information until I finished filing, when it informed me I had to mail in additional information. Because of that, Turbo Tax has only informed me that my electronic filing was received - no further updates.

TurboTax gets no information about the status of tax return processing and the IRS does not offer online tracking for returns where the refund is not being sent to the filer. 

Your best shot to track it would be to download a transcript of your return from the IRS: https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript
