Amendment status

I sent an amendment around 6 weeks ago and when I go to the IRS website "where is my amended return", it says it is not in the system and to allow up to 3 weeks to be entered into the system and up to 16 weeks to process. Is anyone else having this issue?

In normal times it would be about three weeks and you would see something about your amended return on the IRS site. These are not normal times.

Per the IRS website IRS Operations During COVID-19: Mission-critical functions continue: The IRS is not currently able to process individual paper tax returns. If you already have filed via paper but it has not yet been processed, do not file a second tax return or write to the IRS to inquire about the status of your return or your economic impact payment. Paper returns will be processed once processing centers are able to reopen.

Thank you. That is what my common sense was telling me but I guess I thought maybe they would put that on the "where's my amended return" screen. That way it takes the panic out of the situation.
