I let someone file my taxes and in turn they were either trying to scam me or didn't know what they were doing> I get a letter saying I owed the state $5,000 dollars. I looked at my taxes and nothing was right at all. I just wanted to file my unemployment income. This guy put I made about $80,000 in self employment. I called the state treasury and they said I can do an amendment on my taxes. I have absolutely no idea how to do that. I've never filed taxes personally before. What can I do? I'm under heavy time restaints.

Sorry you are in a tough spot. You should go to a local tax place or accountant.
I've been trying to find one. Can I do it through Turbo Tax if I pay and they do it?
Sorry no. Turbo Tax is a do it yourself program. Are you in a big town? Maybe there is a HR Block office?
Did you pay the person who filed your tax return? If so, and the error was his mistake, he should handle the correction for you at no additional charge.
It seems unlikely that he was scamming you. He gets no benefit from making you pay more tax.
Sadly unscrupulus tax preparers are around and using the Sch C to bolster refundable credits is a common scam. Seek local professional assistance in this matter if the original perparer is unavailable or not trust worthy.
